D.O.G.S. Third Round at Rancamaya Golf & Country Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

So, we came to our third round at the iconic Rancamaya Golf & Country Club - the halfway stage in this Eclectic Series. Another great turnout with 50 players making the easier journey down to Ciawi with Saturday being the first day of the fasting month of Ramadhan.

We welcomed newcomers Tim Brooker, Tony Tanus and some faces we haven't seen for quite a while - Joe Peries, Andy Wood and Carl Taylor. Great to see you all back with us.

We must make a special mention to one of our regular players, Axel Hertzke, who came beaming from ear to ear after his double Hole-in-Ones at Riverside the day before - quite an achievement to say the least!

So, the weather forecast - if you ever believe such things here - suggested we might have a shower or two - and we did, but not until the last couple of holes for most. It soon passed and all were able to finish is very good time. Thanks again to the excellent starters at the club who always seem to get us off on time despite the fact the course was fairly busy in the morning. So, with everyone done in good time we had plenty of time to enjoy tasty beverages provided by San Miguel Beer and "break fast" in the club house ready for the prize giving.

So, could we have a good spread of winners this week - well, nearly, with Joe Peries taking one of the Nearest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Drive & Pitch prizes and Anirudh taking the other Longest Drive and Lowest Gross honours, that left the rest to be spread amongst Jeremy Oberoi,for the other Nearest to the Pin and Steve Sutton for the other Drive & Pitch prize.

The greens were a little inconsistent this week - likely due to rain during the week - but Alessandro Perciante managed to bag the Putting Champion prize. A big welcome back to Andy Wood who went home with the Booby Prize - you should come and play more often - and Dewi Wardoyo added to her Most Exercise collection - sorry for that!

That left the Runner Up to be your's truly Rod and, for his hat-trick of Littel Dogs, Chris Barnett yet again being this Week's Champion - come on Chris, it's got to be someone else's turn next week, surely!

A big congratulations to all our winners this week.

So, with three rounds in the bag, Anirudh is holding onto his lead at the top of the eclectic - but he's down to needing only birdies or better to improve. Everyone in the chasing pack has significant room for improvement so he can be caught - or can he? Well, there's still 54 holes to go so anything could happen! A forewarning to all - the final week at Rancamaya will be the annual D.O.G.S. & TeeSet weekend with the match play on the Saturday and the Charity Scramble on the Sunday, In between there will be dinner in the club house on the Saturday evening. Those wishing to stay at the R Hotel should make their own arrangements please - good idea to book early. Anyone wishing to contribute/sponsor the raffle prizes please let John Brown know as soon as possible please. There'll be more announcements about the weekend nearer the time. Details can be found on our dedicated page which we will updated as the event evolves.
