D.O.G.S. Third Round at Jakarta Golf Club

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

After last week's deluge the committee decided to request the services of a Pawang Hujan; the result was great conditions for a round of golf. Even the course was dry and the greens true - so no Lift, Clean & Place - first time in a while. With a few people away this week we had a modest turnout of some 30 players. The course was busy in the morning with a tournament against the Royal Selangor Golf Club from Malaysia, but we managed to get off on time. Reception was well organised and all those entitled to a rain check from last week were duly served, and for those of you still owed one it will be waiting for you this coming week. Unfortunately, the starter put some non-D.O.G.S. groups in between some of our flights but I am assured that will not happen again. However, play was steady and not too slow, and everyone finished in good daylight - helped by the great weather.

To the play: A good spread of winners this week - always good to see - however, Dean Merrilees did manage to clear up two of the skills prizes winning one of the Nearest to the Pin and Longest Drive prizes with the others going to Agnes Berkenhoff and our President John Brown. The Drive & Pitch prizes went to Richard Mau and Rod Williams.

Jude Alexander had the flat stick working, mastering the greens to be this week's Putting Champion. Steve Sutton had an uncharacteristically tough day taking the Cricket Bat - he didn't hang around afterwards to collect but don't worry, we'll keep it for you next time. Paul Barnett seemed to have spent more time in the trees than most taking the Most Exercise Trophy - his first for a while!.

Agnes Berkenhoff had a good round but had to settle for the Runner Up prize this week leaving yours truly Rod Williams taking the Little Dog home to be the Weekly Champion - his first in a while!

For those who haven't been able to make it out yet, here is a good look at one of the many challenges; the tee shot off 11. Hope you have a straight ball in your bag.

After 6 weeks we expect everyone will have sharpened theirs skills.

At the end or your round you get to savour your accomplishment with only a short journey to a cold post round beverage in the clubhouse.

A big congratulations to all our winners this week - including the Pawang Hujan!

So, we're at the half way stage in this Eclectic Series with Richard and Hitoshi are only separated by their calculated Index at the top. But there's still a long way to go as we almost always see - plenty of golf left in this one yet. You can check out the full results so far here. .

Minn's mother thinks he quite a handsome fellow and likes to see his pictures; for those who disagree and are tired of seeing so many photos of Minn please share your own photos following the round so we can use them in the write up. Thanks Minn for your submissions.

So, we move into the second round of this series with our fourth round coming up next. So, please sign up as soon as possible and don't forget to let Rod know your preferred playing partners.
