Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

So, to our third Eclectic Series of the year as we headed to the west side of Jakarta at Modern Golf & Country Club. With still no traffic on the roads the journey was quick and easy and good weather greeted the 33 players who made the trip. Well, I say good weather - there was a hint of things to come as we got off to our semi shotgun start slightly ahead of schedule with just a spot or two of rain. There was thunder rumbling around the course with some storm clouds looking as if they would come our way - and they did, albeit late in the round which halted proceeding for a short while. Fortunately, however, it cleared, and everyone finished and was back in the club house still in good time.

Now as you should know, the D.O.G.S. started its life in Manila before our founder Fritz brought it to Jakarta back in 2005, so it was good to welcome Stuart Dixon to our fold this week. He was based in Manila and was a regular player with the Manila Dogs but has now just been relocated to Jakarta. He hadn't even got his golf clubs through his in-coming shipment but, no problem, as a set was provided courteously by Mr. "Yo Dogs" himself - good to see you have your priorities right Stuart and great to have you with us.
We must also say farewell to the flying Finn Sami as he heads back to Saudi but he has promised to be back next year during Ramadhan - safe travels Sami.
So, to the play: between Sami, Hitoshi and Jaakko there wasn't much left for the rest of us. Sami took both the longest drives and one of the Nearest to the Pins. Hitoshi took both the Drive & Pitch prizes and the Putting Champion prize and Jaakko took the other Nearest to the Pin, the low gross and the Runner Up prizes.
So that left Stuart Dixson to take the Booby Prize - blame it on the clubs and Colin Shanks to take the most exercise trophy.
This left the Little Dog to go to first time winner Vishal Sharma! - well done!
So, with this being only the first round of the Eclectic series, nothing much to report but you can check out the full results here.
So, we head into the second round next week on Saturday and the first round of the 2025 Inter-league Season on the Sunday - so watch out for announcements on that during the week. As usual, please sign up early and let Rod know your preferred playing partners.
