D.O.G.S. First Round at Imperial Klub Golf

Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!

Happy New Year to all the Dogs as we started the year off at Imperial Klub Golf. Great to be back on the course again for a new year with lots to look forward to in this 20th Anniversary Year for the D.O.G.S. - oh, and another anniversary on the day as it was President John Brown's birthday as well! - Happy Birthday JB.

Imperial Klub Golf was our venue for the first Eclectic Series and the first with us now adopting the World Handicap System and slightly modified rules governing who can play off the white tees - over 65's and those players whose handicap off the blues would be 25 or higher. It seemed the change was welcomed by those affected.

Unfortunately we are restricted to 40 players and it was good to see that we managed to accommodate all who wanted to play - no waiting list! One newcomer and some faces we haven't seen for a while: so a big welcome to Alex Pondaag and a few of the Wolves contingent we haven't seen for a while - good to see you guys again.

With just about perfect weather, we got off on time off tee boxes 1 and 10 with a good pace of play. The course was in good condition with fast if not rather bumpy greens but some good scores ought to have been expected. Not sure the conditions produced the low scores expected but still some good results.

So, to the play: A full spread of winners this week with no double dippers. Indar and Hitoshi managed to control the wind to take the Nearest to the Pin prizes as did Willi Goldschmidt and Holger Molendyk on their approach shots to take the Drive & Pitch prizes. John Gustke and, not surprisingly perhaps, Anirudh took the Longest Drive honours - not easy to stay in the fairways on this course!

It took a 3-way count back to determine that yours truly Rod Williams had the flat stick working to be this week's Putting Champion - I think that's my first! Jacob Smith and Dewi Wardoyo had a slightly longer afternoon than most taking the Booby and Most Exercise trophies with fairly reasonable scores - so nothing to be too embarrassed about.

Now even though Axel Hertzke decided the time had come to accept he's in the over 65 club and had therefore decided to move up to the White Tee boxes, he still had to hit the ball to win the Low Gross prize this week - welcome to the exclusive Old Boys Club Axel!

Ash Hewitt had a steady day shooting his handicap to take the Runner Up slot leaving the way for David Moore do be our first Weekly Champion of 2025 taking the Little Dog home - to join all the other dogs of various types at the Moore household.

Check out our video montage of the day's photos....thanks to all contributors and please keep them coming each week.

So, with this being only the first week, nothing much to report on the Eclectic side but you can check out the full results here.

As mentioned above, we are restricted to 40 players each week so if you find you can't register due to registration being full, please let Rod know directly as we will run a waiting list - it worked this week with all who wanted to play being able to do so. Similarly, please remember to let Rod know also if you have to pull out as soon as you know so we can fill the vacant spot. Thanks to all for your support and we will always try to get more slots if we can and the demand is there.

So, please sign up for next week as soon as you can.

Rules Information

How do we figure out which holes you receive strokes on for our Eclectic competition? Simple, we use the Hole Index that is printed on the scorecard. This short video explains how this is done.
