Hail the D.O.G.S.!!!!!
Well, I suppose it had to happen as it had been quite a while since we had experienced such a damp day on the course with persistent rain. It pretty much started right as we were teeing off and got steadily worse as the round progressed. One of the characteristics of a semi shot gun start is that you can find yourself back at the club house relatively early in your round and several groups decided to take a pause. That inevitably leads to some suitable refreshment which leads to more refreshment which leads to "well I'm comfortable now" such that you don't see that the rain has eased off somewhat - not stopped, but eased off. No worries, at least 2/3 of the 63 players this week braved the conditions and finished their rounds. Not surprisingly the early evening still gave us a spectacular view of Gunung Salak.
So, included in the great turnout of 63 players we had some guests, namely Ali Djawas, Ridwan, Norman Defryzal, Matt Chun and KP Singh as well as Richard's brother Rod Mau returning after some time for another visit.
Our sponsors from PT Delta Djakarta - San Miguel Beer - put up a flight with Jowel Tacata, Brian Hernandez, Joe Perucho and Joemar Climaco. Thanks again guys for your support.
So, even with the weather conditions pace of play was pretty good and all those who completed their rounds did so in reasonably good time. The prizes went to a good spread of winners this week. Holger and Eric Mary snapped up the Nearest to the Pin prizes. Jeremy Oberoi and Anirudh - who else! - took the Longest Drive honours and Alberto Gonzales and Shinta the Drive & Pitch prizes.
Jude had his flat stick working on the relatively slow greens taking the Putting Champion prize whilst Anthony Quigley took home Booby prize. Joemar Climaco seemed to enjoy his San Miguel rather more than others whilst enjoying the damp conditions to take the Most Exercise Trophy.
Anirudh didn't have his best day by his standards but still comfortably took the Low Gross prize. Your truly, Rod, had to settle for the second time in this series for the Runner Up honour which left Jaakko Valli to take home the Little Dog - his first - to be this week's Champion.
This week we had a guest presenter to give out the prizes, Bill Lloyd - the big dog of TeeSet - if that makes sense. Thanks Bill!
A big congratulations to all our winners this week.
So, with 5 rounds now complete and only one to go, Anirudh has extended his lead by adding an Eagle 3 following his Longest Drive on Hole 2 and a birdie in his round. But, the chasing pack also made improvements so there's still a possibility for a surprise next week! You can checkout the full results here.
So, now we turn our attention to next week - the big weekend. JAWS have a game running on Friday and then our final round on Saturday to run with the annual D.O.G.S. vs TeeSet matchplay for the Juergen Degert Trophy and the Charity Scramble on the Sunday. Captain Dougie will be announcing the matchplay pairings later in the week so for those of you who have signed up to represent the D.O.G.S. please look out for that. Following the round on Saturday, there will be dinner in the club house in the evening. The cost of the dinner is IDR376,000 payable to the club either on arrival on Saturday morning when you check in for golf or on the evening itself.
Those wishing to stay at the R Hotel should make their own arrangements please - good idea to book early. Anyone wishing to contribute/sponsor the raffle prizes please let John Brown know as soon as possible please. There'll be more announcements about the weekend nearer the time but please can you think about your 4-person scramble teams and let Rod know. If you can't put a team together, don't worry, we'll sort you out. Could you also let either Rod or John know if you are attending the dinner and if you will be bringing a spouse/partner/friend . Details can be found on our dedicated page.
So, let's look forward to our final round at Rancamaya. As usual, please sign up early and let Rod know your preferred playing partners.
